Judy’s
jumping Appy
Okay,
since I KNOW it'll make Judy roll her eyes.
One
year at Oakland hills a while back Judy was blasting along after
the
start.
Warpaint blasts real good, let me tell you. The ride goes North
up
from
Bort Meadow along that long road, then heads down the steep
road
towards
the road crossing at Redwood Road.
There's a little gravel parking
area
that you go through before the road crossing that's only about 200
feet
long. Warpaint was being "pushy" and was
trying to pass other horses on the
single
track trail that leads to the parking area. So here comes
Warpaint,
fighting to pass horses as he hits
the opening and enters the parking area.
He saw
his chance, moved over to the right, and smoked by a bunch of
horses
that
were on the trail in a line. There
is a double log type of gate thing
that
you have to ride over at the other end of the parking lot that
keeps
you
from going through a big ditch that marks the beginning of the
parking
area. Well, the Appy was flying through the
parking lot, a little off line
from
the gate. There was a line of
horses on the course waiting to go over
the
double logs, Warpaint was going fast, so he simply stayed on the
right
side of
the trail and leaped over the logs, over the ditch, and over
the
hood of
a Honda that was parked the closest to the trail! They thundered
off as
if nothing had happened. After Judy's heart returned from her
throat
she was
later heard to comment, "Yeah, I meant to do that. I passed ten
horses
there!"
